Billerica, MA, USA – January 21, 2008.
Today, GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies opens its new facility at 721 Visions Drive, Skaneateles, N.Y. An estimated 165 GE employees will be employed in the plant, which designs and manufactures remote visual inspection equipment for non-destructive testing in the aerospace, oil & gas and power generation industries.
“We are excited to move into the new facility and remain in Skaneateles,” said Dick Mitchell, Plant Manager for the Skaneateles facility. “We are committed to this community and are happy to be staying in the area.”
The facility on Visions Drive is 73,700 square feet and allows for a potential future expansion to 85,700 square feet. The $6 million project is estimated to create at least 50 new high-tech jobs in the region during the next five years.
GE was previously located in Welch Allyn’s Jordan Road facility. The GE team broke ground for its Visions Drive facility on April 23, 2007.
Empire State Development, the New York State agency that provides assistance and service to businesses to encourage economic investment in the state, provided GE with a $500,000 grant.
