GE Extends Family of Generator Controls with the EX2100e* 120A Automatic Voltage Regulator

EX2100e excitation control, based on GE’s Mark* VIe technology, now features improved solution for 100 amp class applications

Longmont, Colorado – April 25, 2014 – GE’s (NYSE: GE) Measurement & Control business has announced theEX2100e 120A Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) is now available globally. Built on GE’s 50 years of excitation experience with more than 6,000 excitation systems installed worldwide, the EX2100e 120A incorporates the enhanced technology found in the Mark* VIe control platform, making it a highly reliable and flexible solution. The EX2100e 120A AVR modernizes brushless or rotating DC exciters that require voltage regulator output up to 120A DC.

The EX2100e 120A AVR is based on the proven EX2100e 35A AVR design, and includes the increased output required by many excitation applications.

  • The EX2100e is based on the Mark VIe control platform and its hardware and software architecture is designed and tested to meet rigorous cyber security standards and is Achilles certified.
  • The EX2100e 120A has a compact foot print and flexible packaging, including full panels and as parts kits, to ensure efficient and cost effective installations in almost any retrofit scenario.
  • The EX2100e 120A integrates seamlessly into almost any plant environment, whether as part of an integrated GE Mark VIe platform or third-party control system.
  • The enhanced "e" architecture provides a new approach to life cycle management. The modular system is designed to allow incremental upgrades or access to new features and protects the investment from the rapid aging of digital component technology.

“GE is now offering the new EX2100e 120A as part of our family of voltage regulators and excitation systems,” said Terry Knight, general manager of the Control Solutions business at GE Measurement & Control. “The EX2100e 120A is a dependable, high-performance excitation control system that maximizes the performance and protection of generating assets. It will allow GE to offer the performance and operational benefits of the EX2100e control to a global installed base of customers that require a voltage regulator in the 100 amp range.”

As part of the GE EX2100e excitation product family, the 120A AVR is available with a full line of engineering installation and commissioning services provided by dedicated controls specialists around the globe.
