GE’s XLG3 Video Borescope Adds Working Channel with Full
Retrieval Capabilities
New shaft with working channel increases inspection productivity
Billerica, MA, USA – 24 March 2011 — The XLG3 Video Borescope from GE’s inspection technologies business now includes a new shaft diameter with a working channel for retrieval of small parts found during inspection. Loose parts and foreign objects stuck inside confined spaces can cause serious damage to manufacturing, process and power generation systems. The addition of the working channel to the XLG3 provides significant cost-savings by minimizing downtime and eliminating the need for additional equipment in industries such as aerospace and power generation.
“This addition increases the already robust capabilities of the XLG3 platform, “ said Tom Ward, Product Manager for the Inspection Technologies product line. “The working channel will help save time by allowing inspectors to retrieve any debris without having to stop inspection and change equipment.”
The interchangeable probe configuration of the XLG3 platform supports the additional shaft making it easy to upgrade an existing system. With its interchangeable QuickChange probes, the XLG3 system quickly reconfigures probe diameter and length for maximum productivity. Probes come in 3.9 mm, 5.0 mm, 6.1 mm, 6.2 mm and 8.4 mm diameters and are built for increased durability.
