Protimeter Goes Wireless – GE Sensing launches HygroTrac

BILLERICA, MASSACHUSETTS, June 14, 2006.

Simple and cost effective, GE – Sensing’s HygroTrac takes moisture monitoring to the next level with the launch of the Protimeter HygroTrac The HygroTrac is a wireless system for monitoring environmental conditions remotely in buildings. The system is ideal for long and short-term monitoring in buildings and facilities at risk for moisture related problems that can lead to property damage and mold growth.

“We are expanding our traditional handheld range of moisture meters into the whole new area of remote live monitoring,” says Chris Ranwell, Product Manager at GE Sensing. “This is an exciting progress in this area and it’ll change the way our customers do business by reducing costly site visits.”

Catching moisture intrusion problems early can prevent decay and mold, which are associated with health risks to building occupants. The new HygroTrac can also be used for quality control when storing moisture sensitive products and historical artifacts moisture.

Small HygroTrac wireless sensors are installed throughout a building to monitor relative humidity, temperature and moisture content. Readings are transmitted to the data acquisition gateway that is connected to a dedicated and secure web server via Ethernet or phone line. Data can be viewed virtually live on the web site as well alarms set that send email warnings to your pc or mobile phone by way of text messages.

A single gateway can receive data from up to 600 sensors that can be installed in a 150 ft to 250 ft area. Data gathered from sensors is easily managed using the secure web site. The web site offers tools to help users automatically compile comprehensive reports and graphs for presentation.
