High-Pressure Piping Ring Joint Cracking - Corrosion Inspection

  • Ring Joint flanges have significant cracking from mechanical and stress corrosion cracking
  • Typically discovered by penetrant testing (PT) or manual ultrasonic testing (UT) after flanges have been opened during turnaround. May extend unit downtime.
  • Non-destructive testing (NDT), phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) significantly enhances detection and sizing of cracking damage while vessel is in service or just off the line to allow for repair/replace planning
Ring joint cracking on high-pressure piping Ring-joint cracking can be significant enough to necessitate replacement. Phased-array ultrasound can detect and size damage on line
