High-Pressure Piping Ring Joint Cracking - Corrosion Inspection
- Ring Joint flanges have significant cracking from mechanical and stress corrosion cracking
- Typically discovered by penetrant testing (PT) or manual ultrasonic testing (UT) after flanges have been opened during turnaround. May extend unit downtime.
- Non-destructive testing (NDT), phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) significantly enhances detection and sizing of cracking damage while vessel is in service or just off the line to allow for repair/replace planning
