3300 Machine Overspeed Detection System
Keeping your Machines and Personnel Safe
The 3300 Series has three monitor choices for speed measurements- the 3300/50 for basic speed indication, the 3300/52 for rotation and tachometer alarming or the 3300/53 for overspeed protection systems that require redundant capabilities.

3300/50 Tachometer
This single-channel monitor accepts proximity probe and magnetic pickup inputs and is designed for indication and alarming of machine rotative speed. It can also be configured for zero speed or rotor acceleration applications, typically part of a turbine supervisory system where a turning gear must be engaged at slow-roll speeds or where the machine must be ramped up or down in a controlled fashion. The monitor is not intended for use as part of an overspeed protection system; use the 3500/53 or 3300/53 systems instead, specifically designed for overspeed applications.

3300/52 Reverse Rotation Monitor
This single-channel monitor accepts inputs from two proximity probes that are staggered radially to observe a notch or projection on a shaft. By noting which transducer observes the shaft discontinuity first, the direction of rotation can be ascertained. The monitor functions as a standard tachometer with over/under alarms, but is also used to alarm when rotation in the wrong direction is occurring, useful for compressors, pumps, hydraulic turbines, and other machines which can rotate in the wrong direction during process upset conditions, causing mechanical damage.

3300/53 Overspeed Protection System
Configurable single-channel tachometer module specifically designed for use as part of a 2-out-of-2 or 2-out-of-3 (recommended) overspeed protection system by providing necessary response speeds and appropriate measurement redundancy. Accepts proximity probe or magnetic pickup transducer inputs. For new installations, we strongly suggest the use of our 3500/53 system instead, which provides numerous enhancements over the 3300 system.
