3500/92 Communication Gateway

This module supports serial and Ethernet versions of Modbus* protocol to provide digital communication capabilities with a variety of process control systems and plant computers such as Distributed Control Systems (DCSs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and others. It can also be used as an Ethernet interface to 3500 Configuration and Data Acquisition software.

Note: When GE's EGD protocol is desired instead of Modbus*, use our 3500/91 module.

3500/90 Communication Gateway

Available for spare parts applications only. This module was superceded in 1998 by the 3500/92, which is recommended for all new and most spare parts applications (since the 3500/92 is backward compatible with most 3500/90 installations). Consult the factory or your local GE sales professional for compatibility details.

500/91 EGD (Ethernet Global Data) Communication Gateway Module

Ethernet Global Data is a GE-proprietary protocol used in a wide variety of GE control and automation products ranging from programmable controllers to turbine control systems to plant data historians to human machine interfaces. Support of the EGD protocol provides customers with easier and less costly integration options when a 3500 system must share data with other GE control and automation products. The EGD protocol used in 3500 has been specifically tested to work with the GE SPEEDTRONIC* Mark VIe turbine control platform, allowing the machinery protection system to integrate tightly with the turbine control system.

Note: For applications that require integration to automation and control products that do not support EGD, use our 3500/92 module which supports serial and Ethernet versions of Modbus*. Modbus* is supported by virtually all commercially available process control hardware and software.
