Life Cycle Management

Our newest life cycle support program provides comprehensive parts support, service support and upgrade services to extend the life of your systems. We’ll let you know when product enhancements are available, and in later stages you’ll be notified of last time to buy opportunities well in advance of parts and services no longer being offered for sale.

How well you plan the maintenance, upgrade and evolution of your control systems can impact your O&M budget and profitability. That’s why a well-conceived life cycle support program is essential. Proper planning and cost-effective services can help you extend the life of your control systems and avoid undue risk and cost brought on by obsolescence.

Life Cycle Phases

GE’s product life cycle support program for control systems addresses every phase of your system’s life - from the development and deployment of system enhancements following initial release, to comprehensive parts and service support as your system matures; and ultimately a clear migration path to a new platform when your enterprise requires a level of performance only available in newer technologies. GE’s lifecycle phases for control systems are defined as follows.

Phase 1 – Product Release
The product is released to market with full support including enhancements, custom modifications, new spare parts and full repair services.

Phase 2 – Mature Product
Full system support continues; however, new enhancements are no longer offered. A notice of last time to buy new systems is issued approximately six months before transitioning to Phase 3.

Phase 3 – Stop Sale
The product is no longer offered for new installations. Comprehensive support services continue with new spare parts; and repair, exchange, and remanufacture services through designated repair centers in Louisville Kentucky or Carrol Stream Illinois. Custom modifications are no longer offered. A notice of last time to buy spare parts is issued approximately six months before transitioning to Phase 4.

Phase 4 – After Market
New spare parts are no longer available and support is limited to repair, exchange or remanufacture - subject to availability. A notice of last date to repair is issued approximately six months before transitioning to Phase 5.

Phase 5 – Obsolete
At this point the product is no longer supported, and is not recommended for continued use in a machinery protection application.
